As Vice President of Products and Business Services, Tom Black’s role is to diversify Bestwork’s line of business while securing commercial, state, and federal business opportunities. His sights are set on attracting customers interested in non-textile products and/or knowledge-based services.
Tom joins Bestwork with more than 25 years of experience in marketing, sales, and business development. He possesses vast knowledge of the AbilityOne® Program and the operations of associated agencies located throughout the U.S. His “secret sauce” is his ability to research and identify customer “pain points” and develop and offer solutions for those. Invariably, he finds a way to exceed the organization’s mission goals in alignment with a customer’s mission needs
Most recently, Tom was Business Development Senior Director at National Industries for the Blind (NIB) where he excelled at securing strategic opportunities amid a highly competitive environment. Other roles at NIB afforded Tom experience in developing relationships with key stakeholders within the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. Early in his career, Tom held multiple positions in the United States Army until he retired after 26 years of dedicated service.
A not-so-hidden secret is that Tom thinks of himself as a comedian. He consistently makes his favorite audiences – his family and his colleagues – laugh. He is going bald, and cannot accept it. Fortunately, his grandson is his world, and means everything to him.
