What gets James Woodson out of bed in the morning?

Believe it or not, it’s his job. Not many people can say that. James is grateful to have a position that he loves and he strives every day to make the most of it.

Born with some vision in his left eye, James became completely blind by the time he was 16. He attended the Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia and graduated with a Psychology degree from Kutztown University. Employed for several years at the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, he heard about an opportunity at Bestwork Industries in 2008. “I went and interviewed and the rest,” he says “is history.”

“James is an inspiration to all of us,” says Belinda Moore, President and CEO of Bestwork. “His enthusiasm and positivity are contagious.” As a matter of fact, James was chosen to be Bestwork’s 2013 Employee of the Year. He attended the Annual Training Conference of National Industries for the Blind and the National Association for the Employment of People Who Are Blind, where he participated in workshops and networked with other nominees from around the nation.

When James isn’t at Bestwork, he enjoys recreational cycling and the great outdoors and is passionate about pursuing a healthy lifestyle through exercise and nutrition. He is also a voracious reader.

When it comes down to it, the biggest reason James challenges himself is our men and women in uniform. “I think about who is wearing one of the products that I made and I want to make sure it’s perfect.”
